Movement:
Transportation:
In Cape Town, the transportation is very similar to what we use. Cars and modern vehicles are the most common way to get around town, or get to work in the morning. South Africans call minibuses or combies, and they are also a very common way for adults to get to work on your commute. When you travel from city to city in South Africa, airplanes are sometimes used when it is a log distance, but if you are traveling to a nearby city, you will often drive or take the train. Railroads are usually used for longer distances, especially when moving from country to country. They transport you to the place you need to go without expensive air-fare and without a week long, painful drive.
The transportation in Cape Town Impacts the city because it determines where people work and what their job is. For example, with commutes usually being traveled by bus or car, you want to have a shot distance commute that is close to your home. Your job impacts their resources and lifestyle you have. With a job that pays more money and has better learning influences and outcomes, you will have a healthier life and community to be living in.
Also, transportation effects the immigrants that come to the city because if the only way to come to Cape town was by flying, then you would have many wealthier immigrants and only those who can afford the tickets. Since there are trains and buses that can bring you to Cape Town, more people can come. Buying a train ticket is much less expensive than buying an airplane ticket and many people can only afford to ride the train, which affects the people in your town, and what the common lifestyle is.
Apartheid-
In 1948, the all white party gained power in the government. This was the beginning of poverty and big changes for colored people if South Africa. Segregation laws passed and blacks no longer had freedom, rights, or money. Everything was taken away from them; if they were married to someone with white skin, they would be kicked out. A law passed in 1950 that banned all mixed race marriages and relationships with a white person, and someone of another race. These laws forced colored citizens to relocate their homes and lives to a poor and awful part of the country. Their land and homes were sold with a cheap price, for a colored had lived there, and were sent to the suburbs and poor parts of town. In Cape Town, those who were not white were sent to live on the outskirts of the city, and were not allowed to come back. With their relocation, they lost their jobs, jobs, money and even families. Sometimes, there were mixed race families, and they would take the children who were colored, away from there white parents. If you were not white, you had to drop everything, and move for the white government and their satisfaction. The movement of the colored people led to a different type of life for both blacks and whites. Expressing your opinion could get you hurt, persecuted, or killed. If you believed that whites and blacks were equal or should not be separated, you were in danger from those who believed in segregation. For people of color, you were forced into poverty with barely any resources and lesser value lives. Nelson Mandela spoke against apartheid and tried to get freedom and equality for those with other races, and his punishment was 27 years in jail. He did not try to start protests or riots; he wanted people to ask for equality through peace and kindness. After more arrests and crucial events, the laws of segregation and discrimination were staring to become questioned. Little by little, laws were abolished, and blacks did not have absolute equality, but the movement of colored citizens began to bring them back to the city with less harm and danger in a morning walk, or going out to dinner.

Trade/Shipping-
Cape Town uses boats and ships to transport goods and continue services. In America, we trade and import many supplies and items from other countries and paces. Cape town is located right by two major shipping routes, and can easily ship goods out and bring them in. Due to the fact that there is such easy access to trading and importing/exporting, they have a lot of trade and manufacturing in the city. This creates shopping centers, grocery stores, and activities throughout the city based on what comes in and what goes out. When trading and shipping, you often bring in clothes from sweatshops or supplements that come from a different part of the world that are needed to dress properly and make building or streets. Cape Town is a primary spot for shipping; they use ships and steamboats to import and export the supplies we see as our everyday life.

Push Factors:
A possible push factor in Cape Town may come from education. Since people who are black or who are mixed race do not have the same treatment as whites, their education is not as strong and important to society. For people with darker skin in Cape Town, high schools are much less common than for whites. With the end of apartheid, other races have much better treatment, but there is still a bit of discrimination everywhere. If you are not white, you may consider leaving Cape Town for better treatment or education.
Gang violence is also another large push factor for Cape Town. With all of the murder crimes happening in this city, 12% of them were members of a gang. It is now a fact that there are children at age 14 who are involved in a gang. The gang violence partly began when mixed race people were moved from the central part of town to the outskirts and flats of the city. This was harsh on those who were forced to move and created gangs from hate and stress. The main causes of the gangs were kids who wanted to feel safe and protected from danger in their community. Although they gang violence began after their relocation, the cliques started forming when the children were 10 years old. They kept meeting and started to form hatred towards some things that people will never be able to understand. Many adults see that by the time these members become teenagers, they have experienced more violence and harmful times than even adults have witnessed. With the gang violence continuing to grow and spread throughout the city and country, many people with children may seek emigration out of the location. The safety of families and loved ones comes before a lot of other things on a list of must-haves for survival.
